The Role

Midland Heart is one of the country's leading housing, care and support business, providing some 33,000 homes to over 70,000 customers. Our aim is simple- to be the best!

Our Property Care Division provides responsive and void repairs and maintenance to over 11,000 properties within the central Birmingham area. Having experienced significant success and growth, and with ambitious plans for further expansion, we are now looking for a Technical Maintenance Surveyor to join our team.

You'll be responsible for managing a small team of around 10 trade operatives, contractors and self-employed trades' people. You'll conduct pre and post work inspections, ensuring work is carried out on time, on budget, and to the correct quality standards - it goes without saying that you'll have a keen focus on health and safety legislation and knowledge of fire safety and CDM regulations.

Working closely with your team, you'll monitor and measure performance, whilst at the same time liaising with customers to ensure we are providing the highest standards of customer service, particularly those with greatest need.

You probably have a trade background, electrical knowledge is advantageous, with extensive experience of the construction industry, preferably within the maintenance sector. You may have managed people before, or at least able to demonstrate your ability to lead and motivate, and deliver the very best performance from your team. Most importantly, you'll be enthusiastic, have energy and drive, and a determination to deliver first class performance.

If successful, you'll be joining a small, friendly management team, totally committed to making Property Care the No 1 within the industry. You can expect to get all the support you need, together with what we believe to be the leading training and development programme across the industry, including one to one coaching. Other benefits include a pension scheme.

This really is an exceptional opportunity to move your career on to the next level. If you're up for the challenge, we'd love to hear from you. If you'd like an informal conversation or just want to find out more, call Steve Rose (Operations Manager) or Paul Barker (Repairs Manager) on 0870 607 0300.

So, if you are a strong and organised leader with the ability to motivate and inspire, then we would like to hear from you. In return, we offer a generous reward package and opportunities for management development.

All successful candidates will be subject to a Disclosure Barring Service check and costs will be met by Midland Heart.

If you are a disabled candidate and require a hard copy pack or a different format, for example large print, please contact the HR department on 0845 850 1020 ext 6555.

Please do read the role profile before you begin your application. CVs will not be considered, so please complete the application form in full.

Midland Heart aspires to be a digital organisation that minimises its impact on the environment. Wherever possible, we will conduct transactions digitally rather than by paper and ask that current and future employees share this commitment. Where required, we will support colleagues to be digitally enabled.
