The Role

Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable communities and socially excluded groups? If so, we’ve an opportunity to join us as a Housing Officer, based at The Snowhill. This is a fixed term contract for 12 months, working 39 hours per week on a rolling rota, that would suit an individual who is able to work flexibly– shift lengths vary but are between the hours of 7:30am and 9pm, Monday to Sunday.

As a Housing Officer, you will be:

  • Working with young people to access temporary accommodation, and to move on to attain and maintain independent living
  • Conducting risk and needs assessments with potential and current customers - allocating support and recording progress through regular reviews
  • Working to ensure our void temporary properties are let as efficiently as possible to minimise income loss
  • Working closely our valued customers, helping them understand their obligations, resolving complaints and supporting them to meet the goal of living independently

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Experience of working with vulnerable people, socially excluded groups or individuals in need of housing
  • Knowledge of issues relating to homelessness and the benefits system
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) that will enable you to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, being assertive but fair as well as using your self-organisation skills to prioritise your tasks
